Worth Pondering

  • "When we come to understand not only WHO we are, but who we always have been - and therefore, who we may become - the choice between following Christ or embracing the world is really no choice at all." - Sheri Dew

What a fun vacation. I love Nauvoo! My great grandma lived right across the river from Nauvoo (in Montrose, Iowa) so we spent many summers visiting Nauvoo. And the last time I went I was even able to go through the temple to do work for my other great grandma. So wonderful. I can't believe though that Carthage is so close and we never went there! But so glad you were able to spend such a wonderful vacation with your parents. So fun!

that's wonderful that you got to visit your parents and see them in action. Nauvoo is on my "must see" list. :)

What a wonderful spring break trip! How amazing to have your parents there, such a great example for your kiddos!

wow! you packed a ton into that trip. what fun! and I loved all the pics, especially the ones of your parents in the play.

My in-laws spent 3 years as mission president and wife in Des Moines, IA, so we were able to take our family to Nauvoo twice. We had the non-tourist season experience like you, and also got to go and see the pageant on a different visit. I hope you get to go back in July because the pageant is truly amazing. I LOVE Nauvoo!

How wonderful! We visited my grandparents on their mission--they were at Martin's Cove in WY. It still is one of my all-time favorite vacation memories. I'm sure your parents are loving their time in beautiful Nauvoo, and I'm so glad you got to visit them there!

I have very fond memories of going to visit my grandparents in Nauvoo. So much so that I insisted on being married there, luckily Justin it just had to be that way. I'm glad kevin got to go with you!

Wonderful trip....the last time we went there with Denver and some of his friends....it was in July- so much fun, but Hot! I would love to do it again.
Great pictures, and how fun for your parents.

Oh I just got teary eyed reading this! Nauvoo feels like my 2nd home. Where you stood to take that first photo of the Temple is where the Joseph Smith Academy used to be, so we had that same view everyday for 4 months. Heaven! They installed the statues of Joseph and Hyrum on horseback during our last week there. I love that your parents are part of the Rendezvous! I bet they are having the time of their lives. I've been to every single sight in Nauvoo (I had to for my church history class!) so I loved seeing all the different places you went. And how lucky to stay at the Erastus Snow house! I am completely jealous of this trip. It sounds like you had a great, albeit cold, time!

What a fun adventure! Visiting places in the off season certainly has its advantages. I made note of the Hamilton park - Looks like so much fun! You were able to fit so much in to just a few days. Thanks for the post. It will help us plan our trip! Oh, 1 question...where would be a good place to stay? Towns nearby w/ hotels w/ swimming pools? We won't have the luxury of staying so close like you guys! Oh, PS again....when do your parents leave? We will be there in July, and would love to wave to them.

I'm excited to get our turn to go. We just got tickets this week so we now get to bring everyone. Looks like you guys had so much fun!

What a great family trip!!
