November has slipped into being, and along with it, there has been gorgeous weather, good things, and lots to be grateful for. Lily got to start off the month with a mission service project where she and her fellow service missionaries not only cleaned up the temple grounds, but the property next to the temple that the church owns.
Arthur got to have a fun Saturday play date with his friend, Oliver. They even got to shoot BB guns, which Arthur thought was pretty cool.
Speaking of Arthur, at school, we had the fifth graders make special gratitude art about someone they are grateful for, and Arthur chose me. It was the sweetest thing and said:
I am very grateful for my mom. I am grateful for my mom because she always listens to me when I talk to her. You could describe her as loving, hard working and kind, because she is all of those things to me. Without my mom in my life, I wouldn't be able to make it through the day. I know my mom is special because she works here at Las Lomas. I think my mom makes the world a better place.
On Tuesday, it was Election Day, and since so many schools in our district are used as polling locations, they canceled school. Because of the random day off, it meant some extra time at home, which was great. It also meant that Lily and I got to go vote together, and since we could vote at my school, which is only a mile away, we turned it into a workout as well :). And the weather was perfect!
Later that day, also taking advantage of the day off, I attended the San Antonio Temple. My sister, Wendy, was supposed to join me, but on her way to San Antonio, her car started having issues, and so she had to turn around and go home. So sad!! Being in the temple was wonderful, in spite of not getting to share it with my sister.
Derek and Arthur also took advantage of the day off by playing together, including a swim in the hottub. Good times!
Later that day, I was correcting papers, when I came across this answer that made me laugh out loud. Oh my goodness - totally not what the author was trying to portray, but hey, it was this student's perception of the story. Ha ha!
The highlight of the week was the special Veterans Day assembly at school. Arthur's school choir performed, they had a color guard from the JROTC, and even a special reception afterward for any students who had Veterans that attended. It was a very special thing for Arthur to schare with his dad.Arthur was also selected to read part of a special poem for the occasion, as well as his great singing. It was a great event.
I also have to share a few more things about Arthur. I got the funniest text from Arthur's GT teacher. She said that she was working on decorations for the assembly, when Arthur asked if he could borrow a balloon - He said, "May I see that for a moment? I have an idea!" and then held it above his head because it looked like a lightbulb - ha ha ha! Good times!!
Arthur is also continuing to create different forts in his bedroom every weekend. For this latest one, he wanted to show me how he had multiple exit points, in case of an emergency. Good times! This kid is forever entertaining us.
