Derek has been planning a special date with me for almost a month - ever since I told him that since Lily and I went on our special date to My Fair Lady, that he could go on one with me too. First he wanted to go bowling, but then, when we realized that the Star Wars movies were all going to be released in the theaters in 3D, we would do that instead.
He counted down every day, unable to contain his excitement. And on Thursday, when we had our snow day, he had quite the scare, thinking our date would be canceled, but I reassured him that it was still a go :). And so on Friday, the two of us headed to the theater to watch, "Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace" in 3D.
Before we left, I told him a few things that you do on a date. As the boy, he needed to help open my car door, and open other doors for me, and that since I am his mom, he can even hold my hand on the date. Derek was so cute, and opened my door for me all night. He also dressed up nice, so that he was "handsome" for our date.
When we got to the theater, he put his 3D glasses on right away, and could barely contain his excitement :). He kept asking why I hadn't put mine on yet.
The movie was fun, as it is always a good idea to see Star Wars on the big screen if ever possible. And although the 3D didn't do that much for me (I really hate wearing those glasses), Derek loved it, which is all that I wanted :). And during the movie, he kept turning to me and saying, "I love you Mom," and giving me a kiss. Really sweet, but I hope he doesn't think he gets to do that on all the dates he goes on when he grows up, or we might have some trouble :)
After the movie, we headed to dinner. After a false start by stopping by too many restaurants with ridiculous waits, we went to the Creek View Grill at the golf course in our neighborhood. Derek got his fettuccine Alfredo, and I had steak - it was perfect. We had a wonderful date, and he is already planning our next one - bowling, I think :).

I love the new look of you blog! I've been thinking of you lately and hoping that you are doing okay! I'm sure you are ... you're strong like that. :) But it was nice to see a picture of you smiling right away when I clicked on your blog to comment. I took a cyber break to work on some health related stuff, but miss keeping tabs on everyone! So I'm trying to catch up a bit now ... but my google reader is nearing the 500 mark, lol! Anyways, hope all is well with you and that you are doing okay. Hang in there!
